What is anxiety?


Here’s a quick overview about anxiety:


1. According to American Psychology Association (APA) defines anxiety as “an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts and physical changes like increased blood pressure.”


2. There’s a difference between anxiety and anxiety disorder, knowing the difference can help you know what type of treatment you should take.


3. Generally the causes of anxiety includes environmental stressors, genetics, medical factors, brain chemistry, withdrawal from an illicit substance.


4. Symptoms of anxiety:

  • restlessness, and a feeling of being “on-edge”

  • uncontrollable feelings of worry.

  • increased irritability

  • concentration difficulties

  • sleep difficulties, such as problems in falling or staying asleep
